At the turn of the century many Italian immigrants settled in the lower east side of Manhattan into what is now known as Little Italy. What started as a 1 day “block party” in 1926 celebrating the patron saint of Naples, Saint Gennaro, the San Gennaro festival now spans 11 blocks for 11 days in September.
